Oasis樂團的團員Noel Gallagher有一回在超級市場中對著「赫里斯合唱團The Hollies」的吉他手Tony Hicks大叫說：「老兄，超愛你們那個團的，你們的歌超正！」這是90年代崛起的英國曼徹斯特流行搖滾樂團向60年代走紅的英國曼徹斯特流行搖滾樂團表達崇拜之意的讚美。確實，在這支老字號樂團2010年榮膺入列美國搖滾名人殿堂的時候，聆聽《點石成金：暢銷名曲精選輯The Midas Touch - The Very Best Of The Hollies》這張雙CD精選大碟裡頭的〈He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother〉、〈The Air That I Breathe〉、〈I'm Alive〉…等經典名曲，讓人不禁回想起這支流行樂團所編織的美好回憶。

從1963年到1970年代中期，The Hollies樂團打進英國金榜的暢銷曲比披頭四The Beatles還多，在這段期間，他們創下17首英國金榜Top 10單曲，其中包括了1988年重新發行登上冠軍寶座的感人之作〈He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother〉，1965年首支搶攻排行冠軍的作品〈I'm Alive〉。2009年，The Hollies樂團在包含了自1963年就是創團班底的主唱兼吉他手Tony Hicks以及鼓手Bobby Elliott的帶領下，再度踏上巡迴演唱旅程。

《The Midas Touch - The Very Best Of The Hollies》精選大碟除了彙整了樂團在1960-1970年代之間的暢銷名曲，還有2009年最近一張專輯《Then, Now, Always》的創作以及2009年巡迴演唱的錄音作品，包括了Tony Hicks、Bobby Elliott與創始主唱Allan Clarke，節奏吉他手Graham Nash（*1968年年底離團，與David Crosby、Stephen Stills等人組成Crosby, Stills & Nash樂團），貝斯手Eric Haydock在60年代攜手打造的暢銷曲〈We're Through〉（#7）、〈I'm Alive〉（#1）、〈I Can't Let Go〉（#2）、〈Stop Stop Stop〉（#2）、〈Carrie Anne〉（#3），樂團在Graham Nash離團後，找來Terry Sylvester入替主唱位置後所創造的〈He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother〉（*1969年首度發行登上英國金榜Top 3，1988年重新發行登上英國金榜冠軍！）、〈I Can't Tell The Bottom From The Top〉（#7）等招牌名曲，還有Allan Clarke在1971-1973年暫別樂團期間跨海跳登全美流行單曲榜冠軍的〈Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress〉以及先後出現在喜劇片【當我們ㄍㄟˋ在一起Chuck And Larry】與熱門影集【危機邊緣The Fringe】、【偵探小天后Veronica Mars】之中，晉升英國金榜亞軍的不朽金曲〈The Air That I Breathe〉。除了上述提及的這些雋永名曲之外，精選大碟同時也蒐藏了〈Stay〉、〈Just One Look〉、〈Here I Go Again〉、〈Yes I Will〉、〈Bus Stop〉、〈On A Carousel〉、〈Jennifer Eccles〉…等英國金榜Top 10暢銷曲，此外還特地萃取了專輯裡頭像是〈Dear Eloise〉、〈Butterfly〉、〈Rain On The Window〉、〈Pay You Back With Interest〉…等這些未曾發行成單曲的佳作，以及由Tony的兒子Paul重新混音製作的名曲〈King Midas In Reverse〉。

此套2010年全新發行的精選大碟再度證明了The Hollies身為英國最受歡迎的流行樂團的魅力特質，他們獨特的和聲與高音演唱技巧，細膩之中又偶有實驗性編曲嚐試的歌曲創作，The Hollies樂團就跟披頭四、The Kinks、The Beach Boys這些60年代偉大的流行樂團一樣，在21世紀的現在聽來，依舊帶給樂迷一份清新的感覺，但在同時也不失其永恆不朽的流行音樂價值。
